Orthopedic Surgery at Medical Time

Our team is led by Specialist Dr. Artemiev Alexander, one of the leading orthopedic surgeons in the region, with many years of experience in distraction osteogenesis.

We perform reconstructive operations in the following cases:

- Aesthetic deformity correction (X- and O-leg correction) and leg lengthening to increase height in young people.

- Knee arthritis in older patients - deformity correction to preserve the joint.

- Deformity correction caused by pathology, trauma, or complicated previous operations (different leg lengths, nonunion fractures, etc.).

- Severe fractures (including war injuries).

We use a modified Ilizarov method - the least traumatic method with unlimited possibilities for deformity correction and limb lengthening.

All operations are performed in a modernly equipped operating room with full anesthesia and postoperative monitoring.

Postoperative recovery includes physical therapy and regular check-ups to monitor progress.

Our patients come from different countries because Medical Time provides world-class treatment. On this page, you can learn more about each of our orthopedic procedures.

Leg Lengthening

Leg lengthening is an orthopedic surgical procedure that increases the length of lower extremity bones using controlled distraction osteogenesis.

This procedure is intended for people with leg length discrepancy, achondroplasia, post-traumatic deformities, or aesthetic reasons.

The surgeon performs an osteotomy (controlled bone cutting) and places a distraction osteogenesis device.

The device is adjusted daily so the bone is gradually lengthened while the body naturally forms new bone tissue.

In one stage, it is possible to lengthen the legs by 6 to 8 cm, depending on individual assessment.

The entire process, including the distraction and consolidation phases, lasts from 6 months to one year.

During recovery, the patient has regular check-ups and physical therapy for an optimal result.

Medical Time uses Ilizarov methods and modern intramedullary nails for maximum efficiency.

The operation is performed by Specialist Dr. Artemiev Alexander, with extensive experience in this field.

X-Leg Correction

X-leg correction (genu valgum) is an orthopedic surgical procedure that corrects a deformity in which the knees converge while the feet are apart.

This condition can be congenital or acquired due to injuries, arthritis, or other orthopedic problems.

Untreated X-leg deformity can lead to knee pain, cartilage damage, and early arthrosis.

Surgical correction includes osteotomy and gradual leg-axis correction with the help of a fixation device.

The procedure is precise and controlled, using modern diagnostics and surgical planning.

The result is a functionally and aesthetically correct leg axis, which improves the patient's quality of life.

Recovery lasts from 3 to 6 months, depending on the degree of correction and the individual response of the body.

Physical therapy is an integral part of rehabilitation and begins soon after surgery.

Our team provides complete support throughout the entire process - from diagnostics to full recovery.

O-Leg Correction

O-leg correction (genu varum) is a surgical procedure that corrects a deformity in which the knees are apart while the feet are together.

O-legs can be caused by rickets, genetic factors, injuries, or degenerative changes.

The deformity affects not only appearance, but can also cause uneven joint loading and chronic pain.

The operation is performed using osteotomy with gradual leg-axis correction via an external fixator.

The procedure enables precise control of the correction angle and gradual correction toward the planned goal.

The postoperative period requires wearing the device and regular check-ups with X-ray monitoring.

Physical therapy starts early and helps restore full range of motion and strength.

Recovery lasts from 3 to 6 months, after which the patient can return to daily activities.

Corrective orthopedic treatment of O-legs provides a permanent solution for functional and aesthetic issues.

More information about the procedure, candidates, and recovery can be found on the dedicated O-leg correction page.
